Chief Minister of the Lakhore police officer Umar Sheikh has been suspended from his post by Punjab Chief Usman Buzdar.

A new Capital City Police Officer will be Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, who was appointed DIG, CPO, Punjab (CCPO).

In comparison, the Government notification claimed that Umar Sheik “is to be placed against the post vacant as deputy inspector General of the Punjab Constabulary Deputy Commander, Farooqabad.”

In September, Sheikh was appointed chief of the Lahore police. He has since engaged in a variety of conflicts.

Shortly after his posting, he said that Lahore police had to request his permission on any sensitive issue, although they had obtained instructions from the Central Police Bureau (CPO).

IGP Shoaib Dastgir was irked, who declined to operate as IG until sheikh was excluded. But after a standoff between the two, the government suspended the IG.

In the rape case of the motorway Sheik even charged the rape victim. The CCPO had said that the rape victim had to be more wary and took a better direction to escape the attackers.

“I am shocked, you’re a three-man mother and the only driver late at night… instead she should have taken a densely populated GT [Grand Trunk] road,” he had told Dunya News about the road.

Sheik went on to say that the woman “must at least check her fuel before taking the road.”

Recemment, after condemning the tribunal for releasing prisoners, CCPO Sheik was at the crosshairs of the Lahore High Court, finding record of CCPO interviews.

The Chief Justice had claimed that the criminals were given bail in compliance with the Constitution in reaction to CCPO Shaikh’s remarks in which he announced that the criminal arrested by the police had obtained bail from the courts.

He said CCPo Shaikh’s comments were close to disregarding the court and asked the general defender of Punjab to provide details of his interviews in 15 days.

Punjab IGP Lane

After becoming engaged in an altercation with the then Punjab IGP Shoaib Dastagir, Umar Sheik became famous. On 9 September 2019, after the clash, Inam Ghani replaced Shoaib Dastagir.

Improper Statement

Umar Sheik said, ‘The woman who was hit went off after midnight and did not take the safe way, that too without enough petrol, after a woman was robbed of her possessions and raped before her children on motor lane.

His reckless comment later was to be apologised. “I pardon the survivor of my comments and all the other groups who have been affected. Umar Sheikh said, “I didn’t want to create a mistaken impression.

‘CIA SP Detention’

Umar Sheik once again announced when, after a verbal confrontation, he ordered the arrest of Asim Iftikhar, the Crimes Investigation Agency (CIA). Asim Iftikhar was summoned to the safe city office because he was not trusted regarding the arrest of the prime suspect of motorway rape Abid Malhi.

As Asim Iftikhar arrived late, the former CCPO exchanged warm words, and directed the authorities to arrest him. The enraged CIA SP fled the meeting on his arrest warrant.

Samaa News

In September, Sheikh was named to curb road crime and to tackle Mafia’s invasion of the region, but both failed.

Sheik is now named DIG of the Punjab Constabulary, Farooqabad, in accordance with a notification released by the Chief Secretary of the Punjab.

Dogar, the DIG of technical recruitment for the CPO, has formerly been its replacement.

His few months at the helm were characterized by a stunning PR debacle, with victim responsibility, apologizing before a Senate committee with his hands folded and an elevated amount of street crime.

The most notorious of his remarks was that on the Lahore Sialkot motorway on September 9, a woman was abused against her children.

He blustered the woman that she left her home with gas and did not take GT Road on a midnight ride to Gujranwala.

Sheik said the police will use the town’s street crime surveillance technology. His tenure, however, intensified street crime.

He was formerly the DIG and General Manager of Counterter-terrorism at NACTA.
